A notable figure within 19th century British art, Landseer painted iconic images of strength, courage, defiance and endurance, none more so than "The Monarch of The Glen'. This body of work was in stark contrast to his own frail mental state. At the heart of the film lies the conflict of the artist as victim of his own creation and vision.
The film culminates in the finished family portrait which celebrates the Scottish sporting tradition of hunting a stag, a grouse and a salmon in one day.
Like a twenty minute moving painting, the film is a portrait study of Landseer and will now be developed into a full length feature film.
